Swiss data protection law applies. For customers in the European Economic Area the General Data Protection Regulation applies in addition.
In short
This website sets no advertising or analytics cookies, loads nothing from third parties and does not track you. No counting pixels, no ad networks, no foreign fonts: every file comes from our own server, and no outside address is called. Visits are counted on our own server, without an identifier that could follow you anywhere.
What this website collects
Opening a page produces the usual server logs at the host: IP address, time, the address called, browser and operating system. They serve the running of the site and the defence against attacks, and they are not combined with anything else.
Statistics
To see which pages are read, ambera Theme Builder counts the visits itself — on the same server as this website. Nothing is passed to a third party and no account with an outside provider is used.
The counting sets no cookie, puts nothing on your device and stores no IP address. A visitor is recognised for one day through a hash of address, browser and a random value that changes daily; no address can be calculated back from it, and tomorrow it is a different value. Anyone who has switched on "Do Not Track" in the browser is not counted. Only aggregated figures are evaluated — which page was called, from what kind of device, in which language and through which referrer.
The settings you are remembered by
Font size, contrast and "reduce motion" from the accessibility menu, and the currency you pick, are kept in your browser's local storage so the page looks the same on your next visit. These entries never leave your device and we cannot see them. You can delete them in your browser settings.
The contact form
What you enter in the contact form — name, email, company and your message — is sent as an email to [email protected] and kept there as long as answering your enquiry takes. None of it is stored in the database of this website.
The form carries a hidden field against automated submissions. Whoever fills it in is a program; such submissions are discarded.
The customer portal
Buying a licence creates an account at portal.amberathemebuilder.com: name, email address, password (stored only as a hash) and, for the invoice, the postal address. The account holds the licences with their keys, the websites a key is entered on (address of the site, version of ambera, time of the last request), the orders and the invoices. Invoices are kept as long as the law requires — ten years.
Payment goes through PayPal. PayPal takes the payment details; no card or account numbers are held by us, only the confirmation of the payment and its identifier. PayPal's own privacy policy applies to the payment.
You receive the newsletter only if you tick the box when creating the account or later in your account; we store the time of that consent. You can unsubscribe at any time in your account.
Support enquiries are made as a ticket in the portal. What you write there, and the screenshots you attach, are seen by you and by our support. If you voluntarily give us access to your WordPress installation, it is stored encrypted and deleted as soon as the ticket is closed. A ticket you mark as public appears with its text under your first name in the community — never the screenshots, never the access. In the community only your first name is shown.
The portal is reachable through Cloudflare, which encrypts the connection and protects against overload attacks; connection data such as the IP address are processed in doing so. The servers of the portal stand in Switzerland.
Downloads
When you download ambera — Light without an account, or an update from your account — the portal keeps the IP address and the browser of the download for 30 days, to see reach and to spot abuse. After that the address is removed; the count stays.
ambera on your website
A website running ambera Theme Builder asks the portal whether its licence key is valid and whether a new version exists. Sent along are the key, the address of the website, the installed version and the language of the website — nothing about the visitors of that website and nothing from its content. Without a key (Light) only the current version is asked for.
Hosting
This website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA, Rue Eugène-Marziano 25, 1227 Les Acacias (Geneva). The servers stand in Switzerland.
Opening a page makes the web server write access and error logs. They can contain the IP address, date and time, the address called, the referrer, the browser used and technical error data. These logs serve the secure running of the site and the defence against attacks; they are not combined with anything else and are deleted according to the provider's retention periods.
Infomaniak processes this data as a processor; their terms and their data processing agreement apply. You find Infomaniak's privacy policy at infomaniak.com.
Cloudflare
This website is reachable through Cloudflare, which encrypts the connection and protects against overload attacks. Connection data such as the IP address are processed in doing so. Cloudflare acts as a processor.
Your rights
You can ask what data we process about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. One message to [email protected] is enough. Your invoices you download yourself in the portal at any time.
