Backups
A WordPress backup without a plugin and without a cron service: the whole site in one file
Your host's backup is a promise you can only test on the day you need it — and on that day you are on the phone, waiting. Here the whole site is one file you download, open and restore yourself: database, pictures, themes and plugins, now or on a plan.

What goes in
- The whole database, not only ambera's tables
- The uploads folder with every picture and file
- Themes and plugins as they are running
- Full, or only what changed since last time
- A zip you can open and look inside
When it runs
- Now, at the press of a button
- On a plan: daily, weekly, monthly
- Without a cron service — the site drives it itself
- As many kept as you say, the oldest goes
- Checked after every run, with a word about it
Getting back
- One click to the state of the day before yesterday
- Download and put it somewhere else
- Upload a zip from elsewhere and restore it
- Your backup settings survive the restore
- A move to another server, with nobody in between
On a plan
Set it once, then silence.
You say when and how often — every night at three, every Sunday, every month — and how many to keep; the oldest goes when a new one arrives. In between, one full run and then only what changed, which saves both space and time. The site drives it itself: no cron service at the host, nothing to set up on the server.

Checked
Opened and counted, every time.
After each run ambera looks inside the file: is it complete, does it open, are the tables and the uploads folder in there. The result stands in the list with the date, the size and the kind. A backup with something wrong says so here — and not on the day you reach for it.
Back, or onward
The same file restores and moves.
One click puts back the state of the day before yesterday, database and files together. Prefer to keep your own copies? Download the zip. Coming from somewhere else? Upload one. Which makes the backup your migration as well: the same site on another server, with no middleman and nobody exporting a database by hand.

Questions
Do I need UpdraftPlus or BackWPup?
No. Backups are part of ambera. They are Pro, and in every Pro plan.
Is a cron job needed for the plan?
Yes. The site drives the run and remembers where it was, so a large backup finishes in sections even on hosting with short time limits.
Where do the files go?
Into your uploads folder, in a directory nothing serves to the outside. From there you download them wherever you like.
Can I move a site with it?
Yes. Download a backup, install ambera on the new server, upload the file and restore — same site, new address.
What if the site does not run any more?
Then you put the file back the way your host allows: it is a zip with a database and an uploads folder, not an encrypted black box.
